{"id":11414,"date":"2020-03-14T06:02:17","date_gmt":"2020-03-14T06:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/?p=11414"},"modified":"2020-03-14T06:09:08","modified_gmt":"2020-03-14T06:09:08","slug":"a-warm-welcome-to-our-7-new-sbc-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/?p=11414","title":{"rendered":"A warm welcome to our 7 new SBC Members."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Belgian Society of Cinematographers is proud to announce seven new members :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dries Delputte<\/strong> graduated from the NaRaFi film school in Brussels in 2001, and started out as an electrician and gaffer alongside Ruben Impens (SBC) on films like&nbsp; &#8220;Helaasheid der dingen&#8221; by Felix Van Groeningen.&nbsp;After having done 7 more films together he moved on to work as a cameraoperator on the TV series &#8220;Zingaburia&#8221; (2013-2014).&nbsp;Meanwhile, he shot music video\u2019s and short films with director Wannes Destoop (&#8220;We are so happy&#8221;, 2008, &#8220;Billy the bully&#8221; 2015 and &#8220;Swimsuit 46&#8221;, 2011). In 2015 he shot his first feature film &#8220;Welcome Home&#8221; by Phillipe de Pierrepont (2015), followed by several TV series such as &#8220;Monster! He also lensed a dozen shorts and a lot of documentaries including &#8221; Steenweg : Barak Rebel &#8221; by Eva K\u00fcpper (2016), \u201cNo man is a island\u201d by Tim De Keersmaecker (2015) and \u201cReset\u201d by Lieven Corthouts (2018). He studied cinematography at the IAD before starting out in 1990 as camera assistant on Manu Bonmariage&#8217;s  RTBF show Strip Tease. Wishing to direct his own documentaries, he enrolled into the Dardenne&#8217;s production workshop \u00ab&nbsp;D\u00e9rives&nbsp;\u00bb which produced \u00ab&nbsp;Gigi and Monica&nbsp;\u00bb, followed by \u00ab&nbsp;Gigi, Monica&#8230; and Bianca&nbsp;\u00bb both receiving a lot of awards. This let to him becoming the Dardenne brothers camera operator, working in tandem with the director of photography, Alain Mercoen (SBC) on every film they directed since \u201cLa Promesse\u201d (2016) . On their last feature \u201cLe jeune Ahmed\u201d (2019) he got the chance to move up to become the director of photography. In the meantime he directed several documentaries like \u00ab&nbsp;La Devini\u00e8re&nbsp;\u00bb or \u00ab&nbsp;A dimanche&nbsp;\u00bb and lensed \u00ab&nbsp;Le trieur&nbsp;\u00bb a short film by Laurent Brandenbourger and Philippe Boon (1993), \u201cStormy Weather\u201d by Solveig Anspach (2003), \u201cLes anges portent du blanc\u201d by Vivian Qu (2017) and Bitter flower by Olivier Meys (2019). He also is a cinematography teacher at l&#8217;\u00e9cole du doc., in the Ard\u00e8che, at the IAD, at La Cin\u00e9fabrique in Lyon, and at La HEAD in Gen\u00e8ve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2020\/02\/IMG_3910.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11449\" width=\"594\" height=\"475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3910.jpg 481w, https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3910-420x336.jpg 420w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><figcaption>Beno\u00eet Dervaux<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After having graduated from the Insas film school,<strong> Julien Lambert<\/strong> started as a camera assistant working on features by&nbsp;Stijn Coninck \u201cSoeur sourire\u201d, on J\u00e9r\u00f4me Salle&#8217;s \u00ab&nbsp;Largo Winch 2&nbsp;\u00bb or on Guillaume Vincent&#8217;s 3D \u201cTerre des Ours\u201d in Kamchatka.  In between jobs he shot dance films for Thierry de Mey and the Kiss&amp;cry collective (Jaco Van Dormael &amp; Mich\u00e8le-Anne de Mey).  Productions for which he provided visuals like \u201cKiss&amp;Cry\u201d and \u00ab ColdBlood \u00bb have traveled all over the world.&nbsp; Lately his emphasis lies on shooting feature length documentaries like&nbsp;\u201cLe poids de l\u2019Antarctique\u201d by Marjorie Cauwel, \u201cMoshta\u201d by Talheh Daryanavard,&nbsp;\u201cQu\u2019est-ce que je fais l\u00e0?\u201d by Bertrand de Solliers or&nbsp;&#8220;L\u00e0-bas, les Kerguelen&#8221; by Marjorie Cauwel&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"960\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-1200x960.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-1200x960.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-420x336.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-744x595.jpg 744w, https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-768x614.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-600x480.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_3399-1-1170x936.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption>Julien Lambert<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Robrecht Heyvaert<\/strong> is 32 and a Flemish DOP. While studying at the RITS film school, he was working as a film projectionist in art centres. He quickly found himself to be an in demand cinematographer on short films as \u2018Plan B\u2019(2008) and \u201cInjury Times\u201d&nbsp;(2010) by Robin Pront,&nbsp;\u201cBroeders\u201d (2011) by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah,&nbsp;\u201cBaghdad Messi\u201d&nbsp;(2012) by Sahim Omar Kalifa&nbsp;or&nbsp;\u201cDe Vijver\u201d&nbsp;(2014) by Jeroen Dumoulein. This let him into shooting features like \u201cRevenge\u201d by Coralie Fargeat (2017), \u201cDode Hoek\u201d&nbsp;by Nabil Ben Yadir (2017), \u201cTorpedo\u201d(2019) by Sven Huybrechts, &nbsp;\u201cD\u2019Ardennen\u201d&nbsp;(2015) by Robin Pront and last but not least \u201cPatser\u201d (2018) \u201cBlack\u201d&nbsp;(2015) and \u201cImage\u201d&nbsp;(2014) by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. He was also responsible for the cinematography of the pilot of the US series \u201cSnowfall\u201d for FX network. Photo by Bart Dewaele&nbsp;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Olivier Auverlau<\/strong> was born in Belgium in 1969. He first started as a fashion photographer working for magazines like Elle, Marie-Claire or Cosmopolitan. In 1991 he graduated from Insas as a cinematographer. Living in Ecuador since 1992, he spend most of his career as director of photography in South America, shooting several feature films such as \u201cGafas amarillas\u201d and \u201cSin Oto\u00f1o \u201c by Ivan Mora (2017 and 2013). Four feature length documentaries \u201cYo Isabel\u201d (2018), \u201cCuba, the Value of utopia\u201d (2009) , \u201cDe cuando la muerte\u201d by Y. Guayasamin, \u201cBetween Marx and a Naked women\u201d by camilo Luzuriaga. Besides working as a camera Operator on the Hollywood film \u201cProof of life\u201d from Oscar winner director Taylor Hackford and many short films, musicals etc \u2026 and more than 300 advertising spots as a director of photography. Since 1995 he also produced some documentaries, one of them was included in the IDFA 20 best films list  compiled for the festival&#8217;s 20th anniversary . &nbsp;Always interested in the research and recreation of&nbsp;old processes, handcrank cameras , analogue techniques, and unconventional lighting systems he builds cameras, pinhole systems ,and collects hundreds of&nbsp;atypical lenses and film cameras . In the analogue era , he developed his own 4K to 35mm frame by frame film transfer machine operating 9 times faster than regular available ones.  In 2015  together with his wife and&nbsp;film director Yanara Guayasamin, they created an&nbsp;\u201cworkshop residence house &#8221; to teach cinema in the mountains of Ecuador . Currently he lives between Belgium and South America .&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sbcine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2020\/02\/handcranklowcrop2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11416\" width=\"591\" height=\"256\"\/><figcaption>Olivier Overlau<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kees Van Oostrum<\/strong> was born and raised in Amsterdam. He went on to study at the Dutch Film Academy with an emphasis on both directing and cinematography. After graduating he received a scholarship sponsored by the Dutch government which enabled him to enroll the American Film Institute (AFI). He then has subsequently compiled an eclectic range of some 60 credits, including movies for television and the cinema, and occasional documentaries. He shot the Emmy-winning documentary&nbsp;\u201cThe Last Chance\u201d, and earned additional Emmy nominations for the telefilms&nbsp;\u201cMiss Rose White\u201d&nbsp;and&nbsp;\u201cReturn to Lonesome Dove\u201d. His peers chose the latter for the 1994 ASC Outstanding Achievement Award for cinematography in a television movie. He has earned other ASC Award nominations for the television films&nbsp;\u201cThe Burden of Proof\u201d, \u201cMedusa\u2019s Child\u201d&nbsp;and&nbsp;\u201cSpartacus\u201d. His diverse body of work includes the history-based feature films&nbsp;\u201cGettysburg\u201d&nbsp;and&nbsp;\u201cGods\u201d and \u201cGenerals\u201d. Most recently he has completed the films &#8220;Dark Hearts&#8221; and &#8220;Copperhead&#8221;. He also directed several episodes of series like the \u201cFosters\u201d in 2015-2017 and a feature film \u201cA perfect Man\u201d released in 2013 and produced a few features like \u201cDark Hearts\u201d by Rudolf Buitendach (2014) and \u201cChristina\u201d by Larry Brand (2010).
