Even if SBC was well represented in Camerimage this year in Bigdsoszcz with 3  feature films:  photographed by Anton Mertens  and directed by Bavo Defurne « North Sea Texas », the film photographed by J-François Hensgens, directed by Yilmaz Arslan « Fratricide », and the film photograped by Alain Marcoen directed by the Dardenne « L’Enfant au vélo » .The long documentary film directed by Manno Lanssens, produced by Elen De Waele (6 months shooting, 120 hours daylies, 3 lighting cameramen, Johan Legraie, Bram De Waele and Michel Baudour…without light, but just available lighting ), even with all these films : no award for us this year …

But a very documented and appreciated conference by Kommer Kleijn SBC about the high frame rates for 2D and 3D , the low light level for 3D projections, the use of high gain screens and silver screens and of course hte frame rates 25,30,50 and 60 fps and aditionnal frame rates published by ISO.

All these points of vue after some information given by Constantin Seiler ( Arri-Münich) namely the difference between sharpness and resiolution , the homogeneity of luminance on screen ( norms : 75% in the center ), the gammaof projection, the contrast, the projection adjustment a.s.o

But Camerimage is a tremendous organization, where a DOP has to go . It’s really a festival created for the DOPs, the directors and people who are very near from the picture creating.

A lot of film to see, coming from everywhere, but of course, mostly from Poland.
