Crowdfunding Cinematek

The Belgian Film Archive “Cinematek” is in desperate need of film editing tables. We at SBC think that the preservation and conservation of our work is very important and therefore we fully support the National Belgian Film Archive, which by the way is reputated among the best in the world.

The bulk of the CINEMATEK collection is made up of films produced on celluloid stock. The conservation and maintenance of these is a manual task requiring specialised tools such as editing tables and cleaning machines. The digitisation of the cinema means that these are no longer being produced. One of the final remaining companies specialised in this field is now shutting up shop and selling off the last of its machines. This precious equipment helps us to preserve the more than 250,000 copies of our collective film collection. Please help the Cinematek to seize this final opportunity by contributing to the €25,000 it requires.
